The Academic Career Framework (ACF) offers scientists more room to shape their academic careers on the basis of their talents, ambitions and contribution to science and society. The ACF Development Program supports participants in making conscious choices about their academic development, collaboration, leadership and impact.

For whom?

This program is intended for employees who participate in the Professor Career Path or Researcher Career Path within WUR.

The program is relevant for scientists who:

  • want to further develop their academic profile;
  • want to increase their influence within and outside WUR;
  • want to give more direction to research, leadership or social impact;
  • want to invest in collaboration and academic leadership;
  • want to make conscious choices in a complex academic environment.

What does the program offers:

Afterwards, participants have:

  • More insight into their academic role, ambitions and development opportunities;
  • a better understanding of influence, collaboration and stakeholder management;
  • tools to deal more effectively with complex relationships and conversations;
  • more clarity on priorities and strategic choices;

Set-up

The program consists of three group sessions, practice-oriented learning assignments and individual coaching.

Your own work environment is central as a learning environment. Participants work with reflection, dialogue, peer learning and practical issues and apply new insights directly in their daily work.

Result

Throughout the program, participants develop a personal Academic Leadership Compass. This provides direction for the next step in their academic career and helps to formulate concrete development goals, strategic priorities and actions for the coming period.
