Outside of lunch hours, you can work individually or hold meetings in the restaurant. There are various informal, non-bookable private meeting areas in the restaurant, two of which are equipped with a TeamsRoom screen.
At Impulse, many lunch concerts, performances, and debates are being organised regularly. Catering in the Impulse halls is provided by the caterer OSP Vermaat from the Impulse restaurant. View the banqueting map for the options. External parties can discuss catering requirements with the floor manager.
Omnia
Restaurant
At Restaurant Novum in Omnia, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, high tea or dinner (the latter available on request), provided by caterer Hutten. There is personal table service and the restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere with an elegant ambience.
The high-quality menu offers classic dishes with a modern and innovative twist. You can find the current menu on the restaurant's website. In the morning, you can pop in for a good cup of coffee or tea with a light snack, perfect for a short break or an informal meeting. Around lunchtime, there’s plenty of choice: from soup and sandwiches to salads and hot dishes. It’s great that there’s something for everyone, even if you’re vegetarian or plant-based. And if you have something to celebrate, such as a promotion, a farewell party or an anniversary, you can host a high tea or drinks reception. If you’d like to get together in the evening, you can hire the restaurant for a dinner or a private gathering.
Catering for events
Omnia hosts a wide range of lectures, conferences and academic events, such as inaugurations and PhD ceremonies. Caterer Hutten provides appropriate catering for these occasions, for example, a lunch, drinks reception or dinner. The conference centre is also suitable for larger and multi-day events. Are you organising a larger event, such as a congress or conference? Caterer Hutten can also provide a suitable, high-quality service for this. For more information and the banqueting brochure, see this knowledge article on catering and banqueting.
The kitchen
The kitchen is run by a head chef who is a member of Euro-Toques Netherlands. This means that we use locally sourced produce and seasonal ingredients. In addition, we collaborate with local initiatives, such as a food forest. Here, we source products such as apple juice and vegetables, which are incorporated into our menu and catering services. In this way, we make the most of local produce and help reduce food waste.
Food and beverage in the other WUR buildings on campus
Atlas
In the coffee corner, caterer Compass Group offers a small selection of refreshments for a quick break or a snack, including coffee, tea and other hot drinks, as well as soft drinks, soup, and sweet and savoury pastries. Toasted sandwiches will also be added to the range shortly.
Sport pub de Bongerd
The Sports Centre has its own canteen with a wide range of food and drink. At weekends, it is also open during events and matches.
Hot beverage vending machines
There are around 200 hot drinks machines from the supplier Maas in the WUR buildings. You can choose from a wide range of drinks to suit your personal preferences and lifestyle. The hot drinks machines offer:
- various freshly ground coffee specialities, such as coffee, cappuccino, café au lait, espresso, Wiener Melange, lungo, latte macchiato and double espresso.
- hot water at various temperatures,
- chocolate milk, choco-de-luxe
- Ten types of tea in individual tea bags are available from the machines, including black tea, green tea, rooibos and chamomile tea.
The coffee, tea and cocoa from the hot drinks machines are certified and carry the Fairtrade (FT), Rainforest Alliance (RFA) or UTZ labels. The coffee is made from Puro Fairtrade Organic beans. This is a blend of beans sourced from Honduras and Peru. The machines are equipped with smart energy-saving features.
Around a third of the coffee machines offer a vegan alternative to cow’s milk, namely oat milk. This is a 100 per cent plant-based product. These vegan machines can be recognised by the photo of the oat plant. Allergen information can be found on the right-hand side of this page.
It is possible to select different hot water temperatures. This ensures the right temperature for every type of tea: 70–75 °C (green tea), 90–95 °C (black tea), 95–100 °C (herbal tea). Another nice feature is that the hot water comes from a separate tap, ensuring the tea has a pure flavour.
Students can use their WUR card to purchase refreshments in the teaching buildings. Students must have linked their WUR card to their KUARIO account. Do you have a question or would you like to report a fault with a vending machine? You can do so via the Selfservice.
Health Food Wall and Healzzy2Go vending machines
In addition to the hot drinks machines, there are two other types of vending machines from Cateraar Compass: five Health Food Wall machines, which offer a wide range of fresh products, and eight Healzzy2Go machines, which stock snacks and drinks.
Health Food Wall

The Health Food Wall is a smart fridge available 24 hours a day. The vending machine offers a fully vegan and extensive range, focusing on lunch options and nutritious meals, complemented by long-life products for any time of day. Think, for example, of walnut banana bread, vegetable wraps, poké bowls, sandwiches and fruit juices. Most products have a Nutriscore of A or B. The ‘guilty pleasures’ are free from added sugar (and are therefore less of a guilty pleasure). You can find these smart fridges at Axis, Forum, Gaia-Lumen, Helix and Zodiac.
For food safety reasons, the products are always kept chilled between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius. The ingredients and nutritional and allergen information are listed on all products. To combat food waste, dynamic pricing is used. This means that products approaching their use-by date are priced lower.
You can pay at the Health Food Wall using your debit card. You open the door with your debit card, take what you want and the correct amount is automatically deducted. You can also just have a look and put the product back. Make sure you close the door afterwards and that the correct amount is automatically deducted from your account. You can also pay via the free app, which you can download to your phone. The app is available on Google Play and in the App Store. You create an account and link your bank account to the app once. You then scan the QR code on the machine’s screen to open the door. You select the product you want and close the door. Your purchase appears in the app, and payment is processed automatically. You can also use the app to see what products are in the vending machine.
Healzzy2Go
The Healzzy2Go (HTG) vending machines offer a healthy alternative when you need a snack between meals. The products contain less or no sugar and less fat than conventional snacks and bars. Think apple/cinnamon snacks, nuts, vegetable crisps, dried apple pieces and sugar-free sweets. These vending machines are located in Aurora, Forum, Gaia-Lumen, Leeuwenborch, Orion, Radix (2) and Vitae. Payment is made using your debit card or banking app on your phone.
