Campus rules

The campus rules apply nearby and within the campus buildings.

Rules regarding bicycles and bicycle parking

The bicycle is the most sustainable mode of transportation on campus. A network of bicycle paths runs throughout the campus, either separate from or combined with the pedestrian paths.

Bicycle parking areas are available at various buildings, some of which are covered and lockable. At a few buildings, including Radix and Forum, there is also space for items such as bicycle trailers and cargo bikes.

Bicycles not parked in the racks or parking facilities may be removed. Twice a year, a cleanup campaign takes place around the buildings. Abandoned bicycles and bicycles parked for too long will be removed.

If you have an electric bike, check regularly while charging to see if the battery is already full, and disconnect it from the charging station. It goes without saying that you should not connect faulty chargers to the campus power grid. Some buildings have daily lockers where you can store items such as your helmet or bike battery.

General bicycle parking rules

1. Bicycles may not be parked in the same spot for more than 21 consecutive days.

2. Bicycles that are not roadworthy may not be parked in the bicycle parking areas.

3. Bicycles must be parked within the marked bicycle parking areas.

4. Bicycles parked in violation of these rules may be removed by the building management.

Building access and security

The following rules generally apply:

  • Every student, staff member, visitor, or guest must wear an access badge for identification purposes. If lost: block the card via the Self-service portal.
  • Your WUR card is personal and should not be lent to others. If someone needs an access card, they can obtain one at the reception desk.
  • If you are expecting a visitor, please notify the reception desk.
  • If you need to be in a building after regular opening hours, please contact the reception desk of the building in question in advance.
  • You are responsible for your own belongings. Store them safely when you do not need them.
  • Children are not allowed to walk around the building unaccompanied.
  • All academic buildings are equipped with video surveillance.
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment when necessary.
