Sports Centre de Bongerd (SCB) is the sports centre for students and staff at Wageningen University & Research. SCB is for anyone who wants to get active: from beginners to advanced athletes. Whether you’re doing sport for fun and relaxation, working on your vitality and stamina, or pushing your sporting limits and aiming for serious performance.

To take part in sports at SCB, attend group classes or join a student sports club (SSV), you need a sports rights. It’s not difficult to apply for one. Sports Centre de Bongerd distinguishes between sports rights for employees and sports rights for students. Depending on whether you’re a student or a employee member, select the option below that best describes your situation. Note: if you have a WUR account and wish to apply for sports rights, please ensure your WURcard is activated!
As well as WUR students, students from other universities and PhD students are also eligible for student sports membership. There is a special arrangement for students going on work placements or exchange programmes, and for graduates who wish to remain members of an SSV.
Employees at Wageningen University & Research, employees at Aeres University of Applied Sciences Wageningen and employees at a number of non-WUR buildings on the Wageningen Campus can purchase so-called employee sports rights (MSR).

Student
Student sports rights give you access to the facilities, such as the gym and the squash and tennis courts. You can take part in the sports programme, attend courses and become a member of a student sports club. You can go swimming during recreational hours at our neighbours, the swimming pool Sportfondsen De Bongerd.
As a student, you can choose to pay for your sports rights on an annual or monthly basis. If you want to join a Student Sports Club (SSV), you are required to purchase annual sports rights. It is not possible to cancel a student sports pass: you can purchase rights for either 1 month or 1 year. If you have purchased annual rights, no refund will be given if you decide to cancel it early.
WUR student
Are you a student at WUR, are you enrolled for the current academic year, do you have a Dutch bank account, and has your WURcard been activated?
If so, log in to the Bongerd Sport application, then go to <MySCB> and then to <My sports rights>. Here you can purchase annual or monthly sports rights online.
If you will be graduating during this academic year, you can apply for sports rights that are valid until the end of this academic year.

Note: If you have a job or part-time role at WUR, this contract takes precedence and you cannot purchase SSR online; instead, you must do so at the SCB counter.

Are you going abroad to study or do an internship? Are you going on an exchange? Then apply for a discount!
If you plan to start an internship or go on an exchange abroad this academic year and you would like to keep your membership with a student sports club (SSV), for example, you may be eligible for a discount on your annual sports rights. One requirement is that you have to be spending at least three months abroad.
International students studying at WUR for up to six months are also eligible for this.

Are you a PhD candidate?
PhD students have the option of applying for PhD membership.
PhD students in categories 1a and 1b pay the monthly staff rate for their student sports membership via their salary. Other PhD students pay the standard student rate.

Are you a graduate?
Students who graduate during the academic year may continue to use the sports membership they have purchased.
In the first year after graduation, you can purchase what are known as ‘first-year graduate’ memberships and continue to use all the facilities.
After the first year following graduation, you may still be able to remain a member of an SSV.

Are you studying at Aeres or at another university or university of applied sciences?
Students from other universities, universities of applied sciences or from Aeres University of Applied Sciences Wageningen are also welcome to take part.
Fill in the form below, attach proof of enrolment and don’t forget to include a recent photo. Your membership will be linked to a Wageningen University & Research sports card. This will be created separately for you and costs a one-off fee of €5.50.

Employee
There are a few options available to staff. With basic sports membership, you can use the gym and take part in all sorts of courses and (group) classes.
In addition, there are membership options for squash, tennis and swimming, which you can apply for separately or in combination with basic membership. See below for details of the various sports membership options.
These are the four types of employee rights (MSR):
- MSR Basic: this gives you access to the gym, the sports programme and courses (including those courses held at the swimming pool and on the tennis and squash courts).
- MSR Squash: this gives you access to our squash courts using the reservation system. You can make 1 advance reservation per week. Each week, after you play, you can book another slot in the same week.
- MSR Tennis: this gives you access to our tennis courts using the reservation system. You can make 1 advance reservation per week. Each week, after you play, you can book another slot in the same week.
- MSR Swimming: this gives you access to the swimming pool during recreational swimming hours and to the swimming courses we offer there. You can check out the recreational swimming hours on the site of Sportfondsen de Bongerd. MSR Swimming is only available to WUR employees.

Seconded, retired, Aeres or Wageningen Campus
This applies to seconded WUR staff, WUR retirees, staff at Aeres University of Applied Sciences Wageningen and staff at non-WUR buildings on Wageningen Campus.
With basic sports membership, you can use the gym and take part in all sorts of courses and (group) classes. There are also membership options for squash and tennis, which you can apply for separately or in combination with basic membership. See above for further details.

Terminating Employee rights
Employee sport rights are stopped automatically when an employment relationship is terminated. The membership you take out is an annual subscription that can be cancelled on a monthly basis, subject to one month’s notice.
You may cancel your subscription after you have been a member for at least three months. Temporarily pausing your subscription is only possible for a reason approved by us, for example in the event of illness. In all other cases, the standard notice period applies and at least three months must have elapsed after termination before you can take out a new subscription. If you wish to restart your subscription earlier, we will charge an administration fee of €15.
