Summary
VLAG has limited means to financially support the participation of VLAG PhD candidates in external courses.
null
Given the size and diversity of the VLAG PhD community and the broad range of scientific disciplines represented, VLAG cannot provide all courses that may be relevant to its PhD candidates. Therefore, PhD candidates are encouraged to participate in courses organized by other institutions in the Netherlands or abroad.
To support participation in external courses, VLAG makes available a total annual budget of €4,000, which is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligibility
VLAG PhD candidates may apply for this support if they:
- Have received a positive Go/No-Go evaluation (Go decision).
- Have not previously received this support during their PhD trajectory.
Financial Contribution
- The VLAG contribution may only be used to cover the course fee.
- VLAG will reimburse up to 50% of the course fee, with a maximum contribution of €400 per applicant.
- The remaining costs should be covered by the PhD project and/or chair group budget.
Application Procedure
Before attending the course, applicants must submit:
- A motivation letter (maximum one page), signed by both the PhD candidate and the thesis supervisor.
- A list of completed educational activities.
- An overview of the current status of the educational budget.
After completing the course, applicants must provide:
- Proof of registration.
- Proof of attendance (e.g., a course certificate).
Submission
Applications and all required supporting documents should be sent to the VLAG Graduate School Office: Dr Anouk Geelen
