Selection for study exchange
Every year in February, we hold a selection round in which we select students for study exchanges in the following academic year, for both Semester 1 and 2. To have a good chance of being selected for the university you are interested in, we recommend that you participate in this selection round (deadline to submit: January 31st). After the selection, we publish a list of remaining exchange spots, which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The list will be published on our Partner Universities webpage from around mid-March. We update the list regularly. Please read the article about deadlines carefully to ensure that you submit your application on time.
Before you start your application, prepare the following:
- Select up to 3 universities that interest you. Make sure you put your favourite university at number one.
- For each university, make a list of courses that you would like to study there. These courses are not definitive yet, but serve as an indication.
- It is not necessary to write a letter of motivation (this is only required for participation in the February selection round).
Start your application
- Go to Osiris Student.
- In the left sidebar, click on the globe icon (Stay abroad requests).
- Click on the plus sign at the bottom right of the screen to start a new application.
- Select your current study programme.
- Select 'Study exchange'.
- The start and end dates are pre-filled for the entire academic year, you do not need to change them.
- Enter your preferred university or universities (you can submit up to 3 choices).
- Make sure to place your preferred university at number 1. You can change the order of the universities by dragging them, and you can delete a university by clicking on the number.
- Specify the number of universities you have entered and choose the correct faculty or department.
- For each university, specify the period of the exchange (Sep - Jan corresponds to our first semester, Jan-Jun corresponds to our second semester. The exact months of your exchange may vary depending on the host university).
- For each university, indicate which courses you are interested in. These are not the definitive courses yet.
- Indicate which study phase you will be in during your exchange.
- Select your Study Adviser at WUR.
- Indicate if you need extra facilities during your exchange.
- Indicate if you agree to share your e-mail address with other WUR exchange students. If you agree, we will bring you in contact with other students going to the same exchange destination as you.
- Indicate that you agree with the use of your personal data.
- Submit your application.
- After submitting, send an email to outgoing.exchange@wur.nl updating that you submitted an application.
- Don't forget to submit your application and email the Exchange Team.
After your application
If one or more of your preferred exchange universities require proficiency in a specific language (other than English), we will send you a request to provide proof of your language skills within a few days after your application.
We will let you know within approximately one week whether we can place you at your chosen partner university.
