Peer review is a vital part of publishing scientific articles. As an author, you’re also expected to contribute by reviewing the work of others. But for many early-career researchers, it’s not always clear where to start or how to approach a manuscript review. This session will guide you through the process and help you gain confidence as a reviewer

In this workshop, you will gain insight into how to review a scientific manuscript and the challenges you may face during the process. Through interactive discussions, you will strengthen your skills and grow more confident as a reviewer.

Target group: WUR PhDs candidates and postdocs

When & Where: This is a half-day workshop. Check out the calendar on the Library website for the exact dates and times.

What: During this workshop, you will:

  • learn the history of peer review;
  • understand the reviewers’ responsibilities;
  • learn how to critically evaluate a scientific manuscript;
  • learn how to construct constructive comments to authors and editors; and
  • learn the process of editorial decision-making.

Credit points: 0.1 ECTS.
