Manage your (study) stress in an effective way
Stress is part of student life—but understanding how it works and knowing how to deal with it can make a real difference. In four practical sessions, you will learn to recognise your own stress patterns, regulate stress more effectively, build resilience, and develop study habits that support both your performance and wellbeing.
Session 1. Understanding Stress
Discover why stress is not always a bad thing, what happens in your body when you experience it, and when stress starts becoming unhelpful. You will learn to recognise important stress signals and better understand your own responses.
Session 2. Recognising & Regulating Stress
Learn to spot your personal early warning signs before stress becomes overwhelming. You will create your own stress signals plan and try out practical techniques to regulate stress, helping you discover what works best for you.
Session 3. Building Resilience
Using practical techniques from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness, you will learn new ways to deal with difficult thoughts, feelings, and stressful situations. The goal: more flexibility, more conscious choices, and greater resilience when things get challenging.
Session 4. Studying with More Focus & Less Stress
Explore practical ways to plan, prioritise, and manage your time while also understanding what helps you stay motivated. You will develop strategies to study with greater focus and discipline—even when motivation is low—and create habits that support both your academic goals and wellbeing.
Practical, interactive and personal
This is not a training course where you just sit and listen. Your active participation is an important part of the learning process. You will have the opportunity to reflect on your own patterns, practise techniques, exchange ideas and experiment with different strategies. This will help you to identify what works best for you.
NB You decide how much you want to share: discussing personal experiences is always optional.
By the end of the training, you will have a better understanding of your own stress, practical tools you can use in everyday student life, and a personal approach to managing stress, studying effectively, and staying resilient.

About the Trainer
This training is led by Roeland Cloïn, who is a psychologist, therapist, mediator, teacher and trainer. He worked as a student psychologist at Wageningen University & Research for several years, supporting students with personal, psychological and study-related challenges. During that time, he also delivered training on procrastination, helping students to understand and overcome the patterns that can hinder effective study.
Ultimately, this training is not just about preventing stress from getting in the way of your studies. It is about helping you make the most of your time as a student, work towards what matters to you, and—perhaps most importantly—enjoy the journey along the way.
