WUR staff, PhD candidates, and students can order books, journals, and articles from the Library's collection as well as from other libraries. This article explains how to place an order and outlines any associated costs.

Ordering from the WUR Library collection
WUR staff and PhDs can order books, journals and articles from the Library's collection via the Get it! service in WUR Library Search. The Get it! service is also embedded in Google Scholar and databases such as Scopus and CAB Abstracts.
- Look up the relevant document, then click the "Get it!" button or link.
- On the next screen, choose the option Request this publication from WUR Library.
- Articles will be delivered electronically. Books will be sent to your office via courier, unless you have indicated to pick them up at the Library.
- Print journal volumes are for in-library use only and cannot be borrowed.
Interlibrary loan (ILL)
Books and articles from other libraries can be ordered in several ways.
- In WUR Library Search select the filter Libraries in the Netherlands or Libraries Worldwide and search the publication you need. Select the title and use the blue "Get it!" button to request the publication.
- When you can't find the publication: in WUR Library Search, log in and select Requests in the drop-down menu under My account. Then click on Create request and fill in the form.
Ordering Special Collections
Special Collections offers collections of rare and old publications. It is possible to order copies of publications. You can also order digital reproductions of images. For more information, please contact Speccoll.library@wur.nl.
Delivery rates & times
WUR staff can order items from the Library’s collection and via Interlibrary Loan free of charge.
Estimated delivery times:
Journal articles: within 5 working days
Books: 2–5 working days
ILL books: 4–7 working days
By default, journal articles are delivered by email. Books are sent to your office via courier. If you haven’t received your item within the stated time, please contact the Library.

Ordering from the closed stacks
WUR students can order books and journals from the Library's closed stacks via the Get it! service in WUR Library Search. The Get it! service is also embedded in Google Scholar and databases such as Scopus and CAB Abstracts.
- Look up the relevant document, then click the "Get it!" button or link.
- On the next screen, choose the option Request this publication from WUR Library.
- After receiving a pick-up notification via email, you can pick up the book at the reservation shelves in the Library.
Books listed as available on the Forum Books shelves can be found at their call number in the Library’s open shelves. Pick up the book yourself and borrow it using the self-service machine near the library exit.
Please note:
- Students cannot request open-shelf books through WUR Library Search.
- Print journal volumes are for in-library use only and cannot be borrowed.
Copies
There is no copy service available for students. Please use the multifunctional machines in the Library to copy or scan the printed publications from the WUR Library collection.
Interlibrary loan
If an article or book is not held by the WUR Library, you can request it from another library. Printed books and articles from other libraries can be ordered in several ways:
- In WUR Library Search, select the filter Libraries in the Netherlands or Libraries Worldwide to expand your search. Select the publication and use the blue "Get it!" button to request the publication.
- The Get it! service is also embedded in Google Scholar and databases such as Scopus and CAB Abstracts. Look up the relevant document, then click the "Get it!" button or link. On the next screen, choose the option Request this publication from WUR Library. Articles will be delivered electronically. You will get an email when you can pick up your book at the Library.
Please note that E-books cannot be requested through ILL due to publisher restrictions. - When you can't find the publication: in WUR Library Search, log in and select Requests in the drop-down menu under My account. Then click on Create request and fill in the appropriate form. For this option you need to be logged in.

Requesting books from the closed stacks from WUR Library is free of charge for students.

*Articles not available in the Netherlands will be requested elsewhere, however there is a limit to what we are willing to pay for an article. Students will be informed if the charge exceeds this limit.

By default, journal articles are delivered by email. Both Closed Stacks and ILL books can be picked up at the WUR Library Lending desk. Please note that you have to pick up your books within 7 days.
