Introduction

Everyone is welcome at WUR Library, whether you work for a company on Wageningen Campus or are a member of the public. For visitors without a WUR account, some services are limited. This article provides an overview of the facilities and services available to guests, as well as any restrictions, and outlines what you can expect during your visit.

Access to the Forum Library

From Monday until Friday, from 8 am until 6 pm, non-WUR visitors can enter the Forum building and the Forum Library. After 6 pm and at weekends, you need a valid WUR card to enter the building.

The Library is located on the second floor of the Forum building. You can work in the Library; however, some workplaces are reserved for WUR students only. Guests are kindly requested to only use the study places on the second floor.

Our address is:

Library services for guests

Consulting print books and journals

Guest (non-WUR) visitors can browse and consult the print books and journals in the Forum Library. If you want to consult books or journals from the closed stacks, please visit the Lending Desk to request them. Please be aware that without a WUR-card and a WUR account, you cannot use the multifunctional printers. This means that guest visitors and students who do not (yet) have a WUR card cannot print or scan documents.

Borrowing process for guests

Please read the following information carefully.

  • To borrow books from the Library as a guest (non-WUR-user), you first need to create a guest eduID account. See the next paragraph for instructions.
  • After you’ve created a guest account, you need to visit the Library in person and show a valid ID to complete your account.
  • You then can request and borrow books and also use personalised MyLibrary services in WUR Library Search, such as ‘Renew items’, ‘Save this search’, ‘Save item’ or ‘Add to my alerts’.
  • For more information on borrowing books, please see this article.
  • Be aware that the Library eduID guest account does not grant access to the Library’s digital collections.

Creating a WUR Library guest account (eduID)

An eduID is a personal account for anyone in education or research in the Netherlands. It is independent of any specific educational institution. eduID is meant for users who do not have an institutional account or for services where an institution-independent account is useful.

To create an account, please follow the steps in this manual: Manual for creating a WUR Library guest account

Accessing the digital library on a guest PC

The Forum Library has three guest computers. These can be used to consult the digital collections. You cannot download, print or email the full text from these PCs. Please note that some databases require a WUR account and are not available for guests.

Accessing the digital library with Eduroam

Guests (non-WUR visitors) can use Eduroam to connect to the WUR wi-fi network on their device and access digital library resources. This service is only available when you're on campus.

You work or study at a higher education institution affiliated with Eduroam

  • Connect to the Wageningen University & Research wireless network named (SSID) "eduroam" by using your full institutional email address and password.
  • When you're on campus and connected via Eduroam, you can use most of the digital library. Keep in mind: some databases require a WUR account and are not available to guests.
  • For more information about Eduroam, see https://www.eduroam.org.

You do not work or study at a higher education institution affiliated with Eduroam

  • Get your temporary (one-day) Eduroam username and –password:
    • at the lending desk in Forum Library
    • or as shown on the various narrowcasting information screens
  • Connect to the Wageningen University & Research wireless network named (SSID) “eduroam” by using the obtained Eduroam username and password.
  • When you're on campus and connected via Eduroam, you can use most of the digital library. Keep in mind: some databases require a WUR account and are not available to guests.
