Reader, Competences, Contract and information about UTQ

The University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) is a compulsory trajectory for university lecturers to meet the necessary didactic skills that have been drawn up for Dutch universities: UTQ (universiteitenvannederland.nl; only available in Dutch).

The UTQ is coordinated by the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) of Wageningen University & Research. It is approximately a two-year programme with several courses and assignments. The total programme is estimated to take about 155 hours.
The programme is designed in such a way that the teacher experiences as many learning activities as possible and can reflect on the extent to which they are applicable to the teacher's own work practice. The final assignment will be on your vision, and the competences evaluating teaching and professionalisation.

Admission requirements

To develop the UTQ competences it is necessary that you have experience with various teaching duties.

Teaching includes 3 aspects: preparing and conducting educational meetings with a clear explanation of the subject matter (eg lectures), guiding teaching in small groups (seminars, group work), conducting education in one to one coaching situations (theses, internship). In showing your competence you can use cases from different courses as well as from supervision (thesis, internship, ACT coaching) experiences.

You can start the UTQ when you are either:

1. coordinator or delegated coordinator of a course and/or:
2. actively involved in the entire cycle of a course; from (re)design, teaching, assessment, to evaluation.
