If you would like to donate books or journals to the Library, please read the following below carefully.

WUR Library strives to keep its print collection current and relevant to today’s teaching and research. Due to limited capacity and space, the Library can only accept a small number of donated items. For this reason, we are selective in accepting donations of printed books and journals.

When does the Library accept a gift?

A donation will be considered if it is not yet available in the Library’s collection. In addition, we will consider accepting a donation when it meets one or more of the following criteria:

• The benefactor is, or has been, employed by Wageningen University & Research (WUR) or one of its predecessors.
• The material fits within Wageningen University & Research’s research and education domains, such as agriculture, environment, and health & nutrition.
• The publication was produced by WUR or one of its predecessors, or was (co-)authored by a WUR researcher.
• Supplements to active or discontinued journals or series may be accepted if they fill an important gap in the collection.

Once accepted, donated material becomes the property of the Library. The Library reserves the right to manage, use, or make the material available to users at its discretion.

The Library will not accept the following material

• Reprints, folders, brochures and other such material.
• Old theses and student reports.
• Dissertations from other universities, or reports from external (non-WUR) institutes and authors.
• Unsolicited drop-offs of any material.

Old and rare material

For pre-1900, rare, or unique materials, special rules apply. We kindly request that you contact our Special Collections team for further guidance.

Step-by-step instructions

We kindly ask that you provide a list of the materials you wish to donate before making your donation. This helps us review the items in advance and ensure they can be added to our collection. Please follow these instructions.

1. Check if the material to be donated follows the abovementioned criteria
   2. Fill in this donation form and send it to library.collections@wur.nl
   3. We will contact you shortly to inform you whether the material can be accepted and to discuss any further arrangements.
